Richard was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Waltham Senior High School in 1972. He graduated from Suffolk University in
Boston in 1986 with a Journalism degree. He worked as a technical writer for private industries. After the birth of his second child, Richard quit his job and became a house husband and a freelance writer. As a freelance writer he wrote over a dozen feature articles for local central Massachusetts newspapers and for national magazines.
After his wife died of cancer the only thing Richard could write about was grief, his grief. He wrote letters to his friends about his life and what grief was like. The journal that he shared with his friends is the basis for 'Life without Lisa' now in print and available nationwide.
With his boys graduating from high school in 2006, and 2007, Richard continues to write and is focusing on novel length books. He also speaks to groups on writing, grief, and the healing art of journaling.
